An Ode to the In-Store Shopper Moment
An acrostic poem is one in which the first letter of each line – read vertically – spells out a word or message. Usually, the word or message is the overall subject of the piece.
The word “acrostic” is derived from the Greek words “akros” (outermost) and “stichos” (line of verse). Acrostic poems have been around for thousands of years; the form can be found among the works of ancient Greek and Latin writers, medieval monks and Renaissance poets.
I am a huge fan of acrostic poetry! (For the purpose of this post.)
It is the ideal form in which to tout the depth and impact of the In-Store Shopper Moment, and to demonstrate its superiority over the basic retail experience. In this era of the informed and demanding shopper, smart retailers know that In-Store Shopper Moments are OK!
Here’s an acrostic poem that makes my point. It’s called In-Store Shopper Moments OK!
Smart and assured,
Hopeful and wired,
Our shopper believes that
Procuring is tired.
Piquing her interest,
Engaging her mind, the
Role of the shopkeep:
Moments, refined.
Overindulgent,
Meaningful, maxed,
Engaging and magic,
Nice and relaxed.
Thoughtful connections
Specific and new;
Obliging her whims
Keeps her loyal to you.
It says everything we as marketers and creators of In-Store Shopper Moments need to know.
Almost.
We’re hosting a webinar this Thursday (May 11) that could fill in some of the blanks. Called The Rise of the In-Store Shopper Moment, the hour-long, interactive session makes the case that the retail experience is no longer enough, and demonstrates why the In-Store Shopper Moment is the logical and customer-satisfying evolution of the retail experience.
